Successful Family Tournament

Last Friday, June 20th, the youth committee organised a very successful Family tournament. It was not an ordinary tournament, but one with ‘obstacles’ on the court: e.g. playing with your ‘other’ hand, playing with balloons attached to your racket, playing over a very high net (like volleyball), sharing one racket with your partner, even with 2 nets on one court (?!?!). And of course, everyone was asked to bring some food or snacks, preferably homemade. You could even win a prize with this. The most tasty snack was made by Geetha Dinakaran, people even fought over her snacks, and it was finished first.

Before the actual matches started, a Kahoot Quiz about our Badminton Club was organised by Asmi. It was a close call, but in the end, Benjamin knew most answers and he won the first prize.

Although the registration for the tournament was somewhat loose, the experienced Roland made sure the actual tournament ran quite smoothly, although it was quite hard to let everyone play on all 6 different obstacle courts, versus different opponents. But he managed well, and after several rounds we could announce a winner. Again, it was a close call, and there was a shared 1st prize: Arjan Jonnakuti and Jenna.

The price for the most creative outfit on the court was won by Moksha, with her cat outfit.

During the matches people could guess the amount of shuttle cocks in the large box. Margriet came closest to the actual number of 1191, with 1231. She won an underwater camera.

Surely, nobody went home empty-handed, as all youth players received a medal in remembrance of this Family tournament.
The Youth Committee, consisting of Jesper, Stacey, Nitin, Sylver, Chantal, and Caroline,  organised its first and successful event, and no doubt, next season, more events will follow. We hope you will all join us again.
